Kannapur is situated eight kilometers away from Shankarapatnam Mandal and 40 kilometers from Karimnagar. It is home to about 460 families belonging to Backward Castes. The majority of the community members work as daily-wage agricultural laborers and a few have small landholdings.

Previously, the village didn’t have adequate water availability in the five wells provided by the Gram Panchayat. Villagers used to fetch water from distant water sources.

After coming across Bala Vikasa’s borewells initiative, they approached Bala Vikasa to help them with the same. They mobilized their contribution and submitted it along with an application at the organization’s office. They collectively selected the site and with Bala Vikasa’s help bore well was installed. It got a good amount of water to fulfill the needs of all the beneficiaries in the village.

Like many others, Mrs. Karre Shankaramma, a village resident, was also struggling to meet her family’s water needs as she used to fetch it from a far distance. In the family of four, which included two kids, she was solely responsible for water. The cattle they rear also need a good amount of water. The installation of bore well sorted one of the biggest day-to-day problems of the village.
